My Joys my joys | #momlife my joys | it's the little things

Rockin’ the Vote!

Here’s the thing.  I know I have a problem.  I know it is ludicrous that I can not go into a scrap store without leaving with yet- another pad of paper.  Or a punch.  Or something that is just too pretty to resist.  Then I get it home- and I am frozen to use it because it’s too darn pretty!  So next time out-  buy 2….but I wont use the second one- because then I’ll only have ONE left!  I hoard my digi supplies the same…tons of layouts on the hard drive- but it’s like pulling teeth to print the darn things out- because they can be tweaked just a little bit more…

So, when an opportunity comes along that lets me justify this obsession with a real time, tangible contribution to the family- it eases my guilt a bit.  “Oh- you need help with a school project?  Sure!!  I have tons of stuff!”
and after a little crafty magic- the ooohs and aghhhs follow and I can say- SEE? Aren’t you lucky mommy is a {addict} scrapper!  They exclaim yes!  And I take this as an implicit liscence to go off and hoard up some more goodies!

I present to you the most recent example of this cycle:  My older guy, Ryan is in 8th grade.  He just ran for student council- and my stomach was in knots.  I knew if he didn’t get in- he would be bummed.  I also knew that it’s no secret these elections can be popularity contests- or can turn on who has the coolest poster.  So the kiddo and I hit the craft room.  We were on a mission.  But really, none of my bling or swirls or die cuts were doing the trick.  Then {I say with bursting pride}- he had a great idea… He wanted to copy the Obama Hope poster.  (politics aside- it is iconic!)

So I did a little online research- and found a great tutorial here  that works in PSE.  (I am sharing it with you in case you too would like to justify the addiction!)

Here’s the result:

PS: HE WON!!!
