Hybrid Scrapping | Make a Journal Cover!

Hello!  Terresa here to show you how I work with creative inspiration from a page layout.  I love to get the creative juices flowing when I am putting together a scrapbook page.  I often find that when I am working with elements and papers, other ideas of projects I could create come to mind.  Rise and Shine worked perfectly for this project.
As you can see I circled the inspiration that came as I was putting my layout together.  My sweet daughter Mary pictured in this layout is extremely artsy.  She is always sketching, drawing or painting.
As I was thinking about her and her many talents, I decided I needed to create a journal cover for her to use. Her current journal needed a pretty cover to reflect Mary’s creative soul.
The current dimensions of her cover were 4×6.  So I added a inch to the top of those dimensions so I could wrap the cover over the top to the back.  I chose to make two alternating designs to choose from for the cover.  I just love the blue and yellow patterns in the papers together. So cheerful and happy!  When I had the dimensions, elements and text ready to go. I printed them out on card stock and added a little double sided tape or glue to attach to the cover.

I hope I have inspired you today to turn a plain old notepad or sketchbook into a fabulous journal. These would make a wonderful gift for the artist or writer in your family!
