The double edged sword of a scrapper….

yeah. we’ve all been here. Today, I soooo wanted to spend some time alone with my stash that rivals a TLC show @ hoarders and make a few layouts with the mountain of photos that I have stockpiled. Just an hour. But wouldn’t you know, the children need food, clothes needed cleaning, life needed living. there’s no stopwatch for scrappers.

Some advise, “find time to fit it in, bit by bit during the day.” But you know what that does to me? That makes me a “Time witch”. If I find a free few moments I run to my scrapping area and say MINE! MINE! this time is MINE! Not pretty. And then at the end of the day, I wonder if I spent enough free moments with those I love so much. guilt. ugh!

So here’s what I have been doing. I have been scheduling in scrap time. The family knows, after dinner for @ an hour, hubby clears the table (i *love* him) the kids watch a little TV and instead of sitting there vegging to “i Carly” I scrap. And Sunday mornings. They sleep late, and I play a bit. They know that’s moms time. And if they want my attention, they can draw or stamp next to me. I like this. and It’s amazing all I can get done with this guaranteed time . Of course, I still try to get more time in. And I have been known to stay up a little too late when all are asleep. But I’m not resentful if i don’t. I don’t feel shortchanged. And that feels good. 🙂
